For best results dilute the stock single-element barium standard solution
1.000 gram per litter (CPA No C006100) to
levels appropriate to the operating range of the instrument using. The working
solution must be freshly prepared.
A calibration blank is used to establish the analytical calibration
curve; the laboratory blank is used to assess possible contamination from the
sample preparation procedure and to assess spectral background.
Calibration blank—Consists of 1% (v/v) nitric acid in high-purity
analytical water.

For complex samples and/or matrixes
Thorium-Magnesium modifier (CPA No MD007) is recommended. Use this solution for addition to blanks, calibration standards and
samples.
